Changelog

Always shipping.
Always listening.

Markus is improved continuously. We ship small, useful updates often — and we read every piece of feedback that comes in. The goal is simple: make Markus a tool that genuinely helps developers in their daily work.

If something's missing, broken, or could be sharper, we want to hear it. Feature requests, bug reports, rough edges, half-formed ideas — all of it shapes what we build next. Don't hesitate to reach out at support@getmarkus.app.

  1. 0.2.0

    July 20, 2026

    New

    • Hook up a coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex…) to your notes: a local `markus` command and a self-installing skill give it direct access to your vaults, all without leaving your machine.
    • A one-click Claude Desktop extension (.mcpb) gives Claude direct access to your notes, no command line required.
    • Insert images by pasting, dragging, or the slash menu (/image) — Markus stores them next to your notes and renders them live in the editor.
    • Link your notes together with ⌘L and open them with a click — Markus keeps the links in sync when you rename or move a file.
    • The `markus` command is now also available from a Windows terminal, in addition to macOS.

    Improvements

    • The Settings → Agent access panel was redesigned as a guided checklist, making it easier to turn on the CLI, the skill, and the Claude Desktop extension.
    • Image resizing now survives saving and reopening, with a dedicated menu to adjust width or alt text.

    Fixes

    • CLI and skill installation is now hardened against hijacked symlinks — a foreign file or shortcut is never overwritten.
    • Several fixes to images and links: multi-file paste, cleanup of orphaned files on undo, and reliable reference updates on move.
  2. 0.1.0

    July 1, 2026

    New

    • Markus detects changes made to your files outside the app (another editor, a script, git) and reloads the open document live.
    • The sidebar and file palette reflect files created, deleted, or renamed outside Markus in real time.

    Improvements

    • Your unsaved edits are protected — if an open file changes on disk, Markus warns you instead of overwriting one version with the other.
  3. 0.1.0-beta.2

    June 29, 2026

    New

    • Markus's Windows builds are now digitally signed (Authenticode), and their auto-updates are verified end to end.
    • An optional "beta" channel to get new features early — turn it on in Settings.

    Fixes

    • No more white flash when resizing the window.
    • Opening files and external links is more robust — Markus no longer crashes if a file vanished, and reports failures clearly.
    • The what's-new window no longer overflows the screen — its height is capped with internal scrolling.
  4. 0.1.0-beta.1

    June 21, 2026

    New

    • Hook your AI assistant — Claude, Cursor, Cline… — straight up to your notes. It can read and write them for you, and everything stays local, on your machine.
    • Markus now speaks English and French, and switches language on the fly — no restart needed.
    • A built-in, searchable help page to get to know Markus and its little secrets.
    • Open any file in your folders — images, code, PDFs… — read-only, without ever leaving Markus.
    • Make Markus's look truly yours: tweak theme colors, build your own, pick your fonts. And on first launch, Markus welcomes you in dark with its Sage theme.
    • Print your notes with a clean layout — and save them as PDF from the print dialog.

    Improvements

    • Settings got a full rethink: clearer, better organized, and searchable.
    • The editor breathes better — bolder headings, tighter lists, careful spacing — and you can tint headings with the theme's accent color.
    • Turn a block into a heading, list, quote or code in two clicks, from the selection bubble or the drag handle — now with clear icons.
    • Reorder your vaults by drag-and-drop, and rename files with a single Enter key, Finder-style.
    • The app's update flow was repolished to feel clearer and smoother.

    Fixes

    • The ⌘1-9 and ⌘0 shortcuts now work on AZERTY keyboards too.
    • Source mode finally shows its scrollbar in the right place and highlights search matches.
    • A pile of small polish: status bar on narrow windows, scrolling to the active tab, the file filter resetting when you switch vaults, a minimum window size…
